Yakima

South Central Washington is an important agricultural zone, and Yakima is its hub. Apples, wheat, grapes and wine are some of the crops important to the region. The area also grows a significant percentage of the country's hops, used in brewing beer. Named after the Yakama tribe, Yakima has referred to itself as "The Palm Springs of Washington," in part due to its warm temperatures, and in part due to an attempt to attract tourists to its nearby wineries, resorts and golf courses.
